01Common Questions

Everything patients ask before their first visit.

No. Michigan is a direct access state, so you can start physical or occupational therapy without seeing a physician first. If your plan needs a referral for reimbursement, we help you sort that out. The simplest way to begin is an in-home evaluation.

Yes. Vitality At Home is fully mobile. A licensed therapist comes to you, so there is no driving, no parking, and no waiting room. We treat you in the same space where you actually move: your kitchen, your stairs, your own bathroom. That is where lasting progress is built.

We provide in-home therapy across Grand Rapids, Walker, Grandville, and the surrounding communities. If you are just outside that range, call us and ask. We will always tell you honestly whether we can reach you.

Many of our patients use Medicare or other coverage, and we help you understand your benefits before we begin so there are no surprises. Simple self-pay options are available too. Call us and we will walk you through the exact costs honestly, before you commit to anything.

Most patients notice a meaningful change within the first few visits. Full timelines depend on your condition and your goals, and we give you an honest estimate at your evaluation. You will always know what we are working toward and how it is going.

A licensed therapist comes to your home, listens to what is going on, looks at how you move, and tells you plainly whether we can help and what a plan would look like. You will get an honest answer with no pressure. If we are not the right fit, we will say so.

Older adults who want to stay independent, anyone recovering after a hospital stay or surgery, people living with Parkinson's, stroke, or balance and fall concerns, and women who need pelvic health care. If getting to a clinic is hard, or you simply heal better at home, in-home care is built for you.

Yes. Several of our therapists specialize in neurological care, including Parkinson's, stroke, and MS. We offer LSVT BIG, a certified program that keeps movement large and strong, along with balance and gait training tailored to each stage.

Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons families call. Recovery often stalls once home health ends. We pick up where that leaves off, rebuilding strength, mobility, and confidence so you keep improving instead of sliding backward.

Yes. We provide discreet, one-on-one pelvic health care in the privacy of your own home, including help with incontinence and pelvic pain. Many people are relieved to receive this care somewhere comfortable and familiar.

Every visit is one-on-one with your therapist for the full session, never shared or handed to an aide. Most plans start with a visit or two each week, then taper as you get stronger. We would rather see you the right number of times than the most times, and we will tell you when you are ready to continue on your own.

No. We bring what we need and use what you already have: a sturdy chair, a countertop, your own stairs. A small clear space to move is all it takes. Working with your real environment is exactly what makes in-home therapy so effective.
