Helen Mulder
Helen Mulder is an occupational therapist and certified dementia coach with more than ten years serving aging adults in rehab centers and home health. She holds a master's in occupational therapy from Grand Valley State University. Her work focuses on dementia care, Parkinson's through the LSVT approach, fall prevention, low vision, and helping people age safely in place. She has a gift for meeting families where they are and making everyday tasks feel possible again.
Occupational therapy is about the small daily wins: getting dressed, cooking a meal, moving safely through your own home. Those are the moments that give life back.
What guides the work.
My work is guided by dignity. Every person I see, whether they are living with dementia, Parkinson's, or low vision, deserves to feel capable in their own home. I take time to understand the whole picture, coach families so they feel supported rather than overwhelmed, and focus on the practical skills that keep someone independent and safe. Real progress happens in the kitchen, the bathroom, and the hallway, so that is exactly where we do the work.
Off the clock.
Life beyond the treatment table.
When she is not with patients, Helen loves rock climbing and spending time with her family. That mix of adventure and grounding is a good picture of how she practices: ready to help people reach for something hard, while never losing sight of the people and moments that matter most. She brings that same patience and encouragement into every home she visits.
